ibelsa.rooms: bookings through your own website instead of paying commissions

At the moment we hear on all industry-specific channels from the annoyance of the hoteliers to pay high commissions to booking portals. Of course it hurts every hotelier to pass a high percentage of hard-earned revenue. On the other site it is impossible in our days to think about selling a room without the use of the internet.
To avoid the high commissions of the booking engines every hotel should offer the comfort of a direct price- and availability query on their own website with a well and visually appealing.

Motivation of the founders

From the industry for the industry

Hoteliers have so far often to struggle with the use of hotel management systems.  Just to name a few reasons: complicated software, long term and costly trainings, very expensive and difficult updates. These days are now over. The new web-based hotel management system ibelsa.rooms has the potential to revolutionize the market. Many creative people are involved in the development and they all know the hotel and IT business. Patrick Schulte and Philip Berchtold the founders of ibelsa talking about their motives.

Be secure in the knowledge….this software works!

ibelsa.rooms provides free video tutorials. The installation of on-premise software at a hotel is generally considered time-consuming and costly. 2-5 days of staff training by a specialised software expert, costing between 2400-5000 €, and then there is the large investment to be made in the necessary hardware and software.

Expenses can quickly mount-up to in excess of 10,000 €, a prospect which often leaves hotel owners, understandably, reluctant to modernise.

With 10 rooms, a hotel software?

Even small hotels can now afford the luxury of great software. Many small and medium sized hotels still work with reservation books, and manually created invoices. These work processes have proved effective over many decades.

But is operating without a computer still an option? There are few companies that do not use fast and cost effective emails as a way to communicate. Are invoices still really written by hand, or are invoice templates created on your PC? Can a hotel survive without a website? Can a hotel participate in booking portal websites such as booking.com and HRS? What about the new social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter?

The vision - the inventors!

A conversation with Patrick Schulte and Philipp Berchtold

What is ibelsa.rooms?

Patrick Schulte (PS): Philip Berchtold and I launched ibelsa.rooms at the end of 2010. Philip grew up within the hotel industry and witnessed it at an international level, so you could say it is in his blood. I have 15 years running a company that delivered software solutions to discerning customers at the highest level. So the idea was actually pretty collaborative, no Philip?
